The week end of February 5 and 6 was not only the opening of the London Farm Tea Room and Gift Shop for the 2011 season, but also the celebration of Chinese New Year.
London Farm appeared to be “dressed to the occasion”. Two big red lanterns hanging at the front porch were greeting curious visitors, surprised even more on entering the Farm House.
Typical Chinese New Year decoration was in abundance everywhere, supplemented with soft traditional Chinese music.
Even some of the farm’s prized baking was in the shape of a rabbit, just to remind visitors what animal this year was celebrated.
With this special attention to Chinese New Year, London Farm wants to pay tribute not only to the Chinese-Canadian citizens of Richmond, but also to the Chinese labourers who worked so hard at London Farm in days long gone.
The Chinese decoration at London Farm can be enjoyed until the end of this month.
